In the first part of what promises to be an ongoing series of articles in partnership with Alex Ghotbi, Head of Watches, Continental Europe and Middle East, at Phillips, Revolution's Wei Koh takes on the subject of vintage Patek Philippe chronographs. The Revolution founder traces the history of the chronograph, touching on the critical contributions of Louis Moinet and Nicolas Mathieu Rieussec before quickly moving on to the matter at hand, chronograph wristwatches from Patek Philippe.

Over the course of about 10,000 words, the article lays out the key references and their dates of production while highlighting the various dial configurations that can be found within each reference as well as the movements used. Sections are framed by Alex Ghotbi, whose contributions add important context for collectors ?for example, he talks about the slight differences in dimensions between steel versions and gold versions of the ref. 130. The story is illustrated with photographs of the important watches it covers, with certain images reproduced with permission from John Goldberger's Patek Philippe Steel Watches.
I've long enjoyed Wei's writing, and this piece is penned with the verve and enthusiasm that are the hallmarks of a Wei Koh original. If you have a bit of time to dig into a long-form story (and certainly many of us do these days), then reading this article on Revolution would be a very fine way to spend it.
